We caught the latest musical act to hit town - "Beyond Violet" - yesterday at Boomerang Billy's and they are great! You can see them there again today (starting at 5 PM) or surf over to their web-site to see their updated schedule. Suggestion: Ask to hear some Pink Floyd - you won't be disappointed =)

missing iguana

5/9/02 - Have you seen me?

"My name is Liz the (boy) iguana, and me and my little sister "Duke" pulled a fast one on our parents, Pam and Steve. We had big fun out and about but are ready to go home now (we live on Dolphin). We were recently spotted on Red Snapper. We like flowers and are totally harmless (though we like to think we are scary-looking!) If you see us, please call 761-6104 -- thanks!"

thresher shark

5/02/02 - Shark!

This 333-pound, 13 feet, 2 1/2-inch common thresher shark set a new record, beating the old record of 133 pounds set in 1981. The fish had a body measuring 6 feet with the huge sweeping tail accounting for the rest of the length. Posing with the beast is Captain Robert Dunkin (standing left), deckhands Cliff Jones (center) and Mike Hebrank (kneeling), and angler Robert Allen Robinson (right) of Port Isabel, Texas. The shark was caught on May 2, 2002 aboard the Osprey II out of the Sea Ranch Fishing Pier (Osprey Fishing Trips) on South Padre Island, Texas.
(Not to worry though it was caught 2 1/2 hours off shore in deep water.)

Photo: Courtesy of Captain Robert Dunkin, with thanks to Michael Gonzalez of Naturally's Beach House Suites for passing it on.
