sandy feet's south padre island photo album - August, 2005

Alien Landscape
Shot with my cellphone camera at low tide, just after sunset at Parrot Eyes. Kinda cool.

"Evans Town" Sandcastle
The (Joann) Evans Family built one heck of a pretty sculpture at a recent family gathering. Okay, I helped a little, but no way could I do all this by myself in just two hours. Scroll on down for more photos (courtesy of Shawn Paul Evans). Think your family could do even better? Click here for more info on "photo op" sandcastle lessons. (It's not too early to start thinking about Christmas cards!)

8/10 - Fred Finds a Frigate
You don't see a lot of frigate birds in these parts. Fred snapped this shot while crossing the causeway today.
You might not think that a turtle would make an interesting subject for a web-cam. but you would be wrong. "Isaac", a three-year-old hawksbill over at Sea Turtle Inc. is a surprisingly active little guy.

Lizard Love
Our friend Nancy Marsden sent us this shot of a pair of lizards enjoying a romantic interlude on her garden wall.
That's Amore!

8/27 - Beautiful SPI Sunrise #856
Just got back in town from a sand sculpture contest in Quebec and managed to talk Wags into joining me for a sunrise walk. (At age 17, Wags has decided he mostly likes to sleep in -- but I think he was so happy that I came back that he decided he could bestir himself early this morning.)

8/29 - Katrina's Long Reach
The big news today is Hurricane Katrina. And though she is a long ways away from SPI, big waves and unexpectedly high tides give some indication of just how huge this storm really is. More pix in my Flickr photo stream
