Stupid Pet Tricks?

This fine-looking black lab was recently captured in the act of downing a shot over at Wahoo's - while Coastal Current Carol looks on in amazement...

Wahoo's on the bay has re-opened and the action is always lively. (Photo by Millicent - I think...?)

Beautiful Sand

In certain places, if you look closely,
the landscapes of S.Padre Island can look
quite different than one may expect.

Isle-Ditter-Dog - 1/26/02

So many dogs in one place and nary a fight! This year's canine races and fashion show over at Louie's was sure a lot of fun with plenty of good looking and well-baheved dogs and their people.

Massage Therapist Dolores Ferrentino raised over $100 for the Laguna Madre Humane Society. The Winter Texan turnout was notable - thanks to all who came out to help support the LMHS.

Hole in the Wall Reopens!
1/16/02

Deb and Dunehead look exhausted but happy at the end of their first day of business. "DD's Real Hole in the Wall" Diner is open for business 9 AM - midnight every day (later on Sundays) and I can tell you right now the food is yummy! The Hole in the Wall is located at Kelly's Irish Pub - be sure to stop by and check it out.

HONEST MAN FOUND ON SPI!

This is exactly what transpired. On Sunday, 1/20, SPI visitor Bob Horn from Arkansas played tennis at the BAHIA MAR. Leaving the courts, he retrieved something from his pocket, and in the process managed to lose $260.

Shortly after 12, "Big Bob" Johns arrived to perform in THE VALLEY ALL STARS Jazz Concert in the BAHIA MAR's Club XS, which is adjacent to the courts. Yes, you guessed it. Bob Johns alertly found Bob Horn's neatly folded bills.

Honest Bob Johns immediately checked with all there for the concert, then reported it to the BAHIA MAR's Security.

The next day, Monday, 1/21, "Big Band Phil," leader of the band at the BAHIA MAR, overheard sad Bob Horn ask all the tennis players if they happened to find any money on Sunday. Phil quickly connected the facts and determined that the mystery was solved, and put the two Bob's in touch with each other.

A happy and grateful Bob Horn desperately tried to give Honest "Big Bob" Johnsa substantial reward, which was graciously declined.

If anyone on the island or in the Valley would like to pay respects to Honest Bob, he can be seen AND HEARD in the BAHIA MAR Grill on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 9 P M, as he is featured on trumpet and fluegelhorn with the "Big Band Phil" & Friends orchestra.

Fellowship of the Birthday Party
1/8/02

Laurie Gaudie (second from right, first row) treated some of her firends to a movie party for her birthday. Lucky participants donned Middle-Earth - type gear and trouped off to Island Cinima where they were treated to hotdogs, popcorn, party favors and a showing of "Lord of the Rings."

And a good time was had by all!
